Five startup finalists will pitch their hardware company to a panel of investors, industry experts and to a virtual live audience for a chance to win $3,000 cash, a trip to Pittsburgh to compete at the Alpha Lab Gear HardwareCup Finals as well as prizes from leading hardware startup investors and service providers valued at over 30K!
Hardware Massive will review all applications and select the startup teams by March 25th. Applicants will be notified on a rolling basis of their status. All notifications will go out by March 27th.
To be eligible, you must be an early-stage hardware startup with at least one physical product component.
Don’t let the term hardware scare you off! Physical products include but are not limited to: manufactured products, IoT/connected devices, health/medical, consumer products, consumer electronics, food, fashion, robotics, etc.
You must have received some type of initial funding (self-funded, friends and family, angel, crowdsourced, etc) but have not yet taken A Round funding. You have to present a viable business model and show some projections and momentum.
We’re looking for great teams, and while the experience is great, first time CEOs and founders are also welcome as long as you can show your “unfair advantage” in your sector.
Companies should be viable candidates for investment - including eventual venture funding. If you have a great “lifestyle hardware company” with revenue projects that will unlikely ever exceed $40M/year and still want to take advantage of HardwareCon - check out our Innovation Access for hardware startups.
Five teams will be selected in each US region to give a 3-minute pitch followed by about 3 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges made up of local VCs and investors. At the same time, several other countries will hold their own Hardware Cup competition with a similar format.
Each US regional competition and international competition will send finalist companies to attend the Hardware Cup Finals events in Pittsburgh in May 2020 in addition to a possible wild card finalist.
At the International Finals event, all US and international finalists will have a chance to pitch to the audience and have a demo table. The winner will take home the $50,000 grand prize, with additional cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place.
Additionally, all finalists will be invited to participate in a private Investor Day event on the following day, where they will have the chance to meet one-on-one with top hardware investors from around the country.
